Protect PDF with a Password
Put a password with AES-256 encryption on a PDF and forbid printing, copying or editing. Everything happens in your browser.
What the tool can do
- Modern AES-256 encryption (the PDF 2.0 standard). The file opens in Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, Firefox, macOS Preview and other programs.
- Two kinds of protection: a password to open and an owner password that lets you change the restrictions. Restrictions: printing, copying, editing, comments, page assembly.
- A built-in generator of strong passwords and a strength estimate right as you type.
- After encryption the file is checked immediately: we open it with your password and compare the page count. You see the result of the check.
- Passwords and the file never leave the browser: encryption is done on your device.
Restrictions (printing, copying) are not honored by all programs: they are a request, not a guarantee. Only the open password protects reliably.
A forgotten password cannot be recovered. Save it in a password manager.
