Password Generator and Strength Checker
Random passwords, phrases made of words, pronounceable passwords, pattern-based passwords, PINs and tokens. Plus an honest estimate: how long it would take to crack your password.
What the tool can do
- The browser's cryptographically strong generator without bias: every character of the set comes up with equal probability.
- Passphrases made of simple English words — easier to remember than a random string, with comparable strength.
- Pronounceable passwords made of syllables and pattern-based passwords like “Cvcvcv-9999”: convenient to dictate over the phone.
- The strength check finds words, popular passwords, keyboard rows, years and letter-to-digit substitutions in a password.
- It catches passwords typed in the wrong keyboard layout: “ghbdtn” is “привет” typed on an English keyboard, and such passwords are guessed first.
- Crack time for four scenarios: online, a slow and a fast hash after a database leak, and a powerful cluster.
Passwords are created and checked on your device; nothing is sent to a server or stored. Only the length and character set settings are remembered in the browser.
The entropy shown is an estimate on the assumption that an attacker does not know your rule. For important accounts, use a password manager and two-factor protection.
