DOCX to Text, Markdown and HTML
Get the contents of a Word document without Word: plain text, Markdown or HTML. And see what is usually hidden: edits, comments, metadata.
What the tool can do
- Preserves the structure: headings, bulleted and numbered lists, tables with merged cells, links, bold, italic, strikethrough, footnotes and text boxes.
- Tracked changes can be accepted, rejected or shown as markup to see what was changed and by whom. Comments get a separate list with authors and their place in the text.
- The “Document passport” shows the author, organization, dates, hidden text, fragments that were deleted but are still stored in the file, macros, links to local files and a thumbnail of the first page.
- Download a cleaned copy with one button: without metadata, without revision history, without comments and hidden text. The rest of the formatting is left as it is.
- Checks the structure: skipped heading levels, images without a description, tables without a header row, bold lines used instead of headings.
- Counts words, characters, sentences and reading time, and shows frequent words and the longest sentences.
- Extracts all the images from the document and downloads them in a single archive.
The document is parsed right in the browser and sent nowhere. DOCX, DOCM and templates are supported. Save the old DOC format and password-protected documents in Word as a regular DOCX first.
This is an extraction of the content, not an exact copy of the pages: columns, text wrapping around images and exact layout are not reproduced. Page numbers are taken from the properties that Word recorded.
