PDF to Text
Extract text from a PDF as plain text or Markdown. Headers, footers and hyphenation are cleaned up automatically, and links, emails and phone numbers are collected into lists.
What the tool can do
- Three kinds of result: paragraphs (lines are joined), lines as in the PDF, and Markdown, where headings are detected by font size and bulleted lists become “- ”.
- Headers, footers and page numbers that repeat on every page are removed automatically. You can turn this off.
- Hyphenated words are joined back: “docu-” and “ment” become “document” again.
- The “Found in the text” block collects links (including links under buttons and words), emails, phone numbers, dates and amounts. Each value is copied with one click.
- You can choose the pages you need and copy the result, or download it as TXT, MD or JSON split by page.
The text is read from the file itself. If the PDF is a scan or photographs of pages, it has no text layer, and text recognition (OCR) is not performed here.
The line order is taken from the file. For complex layouts with columns and tables it may differ from what looks natural to the eye.
