Installation of plugin in Notepad++, and manual installation
Method 1: Installing a plugin via Plugin Manager
- Open the Plugins menu and select Plugin Manager. If you have version 7.5 and above of Notepad++ installed, the plugin manager might be called Plugins Admin.
- In the opened window, you will see a list of available plugins. Find the required plugin in the list or use the search bar.
- Check the box next to the required plugin and click the Install button.
- Wait for the installation to complete. Notepad++ may ask for a restart to complete the installation process.
- After restarting, the plugin will be installed and ready to use.
Method 2: Manual installation of the plugin
Sometimes the plugin may not be available through the Plugin Manager, or you may need to install it manually. To do this, follow the instructions below:
- Download the required plugin from the official website or another trusted source. Plugins are usually provided as archives containing .dll files.
- Extract the downloaded file.
- Copy the .dll file to the plugins folder in the Notepad++ installation directory. Usually, this is C:\Program Files\Notepad++\plugins.
- Restart Notepad++. The plugin should now appear in the Plugins menu and be ready for use.
Method 3: Using a third-party Plugin Manager
If the standard Plugin Manager does not meet your needs, you can use Plugin Manager Enhanced. This tool allows you to manage plugins in the same way as the standard manager but with additional features.
- Download and install the third-party Plugin Manager.
- Start Notepad++ and open the new plugin manager through the Plugins menu.
- Install the required plugins through the interface of the new manager.
Installing plugins in Notepad++ is a simple process that can significantly extend the capabilities of the editor.
