How to select a column in Notepad++

Selecting a column using the mouse

• Open the document in Notepad++.
• Hold down the Alt key.
• Click the left mouse button at the beginning of the column you want to select.

Selecting a column using the keyboard

• Open the document in Notepad++.
• Place the cursor at the beginning of the column you want to select.
• Hold down the Alt + Shift keys.
• Use the arrow keys to select text in the desired direction (up, down, right, or left).
• Release the Alt + Shift keys to finish selecting.

Editing the selected column

Once you have selected a column of text, you can perform various operations on this selection:

• Delete: Press the Delete or Backspace key to delete the selected column.
• Copy: Press Ctrl + C to copy the selected column.
• Paste: Press Ctrl + V to paste the text from the clipboard into the selected column.
